YQR Applauds NAV CANADA Decision to Keep Air Traffic Control Tower Open

April 15, 2021

Today, NAV CANADA announced that the Air Traffic Control Tower that was previously under review at YQR will remain open.

The Regina Airport Authority applauds their decision, and we want to thank the many advocates and partners at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels, the aviation community, business sector, and members of the general public who voiced their support in not closing the tower.

“We know that our air traffic control tower is a vital part of our infrastructure and the loss would have been difficult for southern Saskatchewan as we look forward to recovery,” said James Bogusz, President & CEO of the Regina Airport Authority. “The advocacy we heard and saw first-hand from the community was a critical part of this decision.”

We thank NAV CANADA for their decision and look forward to continuing to serve the aviation sector together.
