#NotInMyCity

Regina International Airport is proud to become a #NotInMyCity ally as of May 2025. #NotInMyCity is a facilitative organization working to end human trafficking

and sexual exploitation by raising awareness, advancing preventative strategies, creating a platform for collective action, mobilizing communities, and facilitating transformational systemic change.

Founded in 2017 by Canadian Country Music Artist Paul Brandt, #NotInMyCity is dedicated to “ignite awareness, instill hope, and inspire action to end exploitation and hu

man trafficking in Canada” (NIMC, 2024 Impact Report, 5). They focus on five strategic directions: empowering survivors, building community awareness and action, addressing the unique needs of vulnerable people, advancing learning practices, and supporting high-risk children and youth.

YQR is one of 28 transportation industry allies across Canada that have adopted this program. We are proud to be an ally alongside other airports, trucking companies, airlines, and others in bringing to light the need to end human trafficking.

OUR ENGAGEMENT

We have implemented #NotInMyCity roses with QR Codes and other information around our airport to provide quick access to individuals seeking to know more, wanting to help, or needing assistance. The QR Code will direct individuals to the #NotInMyCity website and includes emergency response numbers to contact if they believe someone may be a victim of human trafficking.

Our Regina Airport Authority staff, tenants, and partners had the opportunity to complete the #NotInMyCity training e-course called “Mobilizing Communities to Disrupt Sexual Exploitation and Sex Trafficking in Canada” to continue their learning on this subject with a specific focus on the aviation and transportation industries.

WHY

Human trafficking is one of the fastest-growing crimes in Canada, profiting billions of dollars annually worldwide. Over 72% of victims in Canada are under 25 years old, the greatest risk factors being individuals who are female, Indigenous, or 2SLGBTQIA+. It is a violation of a person’s basic human rights and can be considered a form of modern-day slavery.
