Helpful Hints for Booking Flights

  • Book Early. Typically, booking early will get your a cheaper ticket and ensure that you get the flight you desire. Although you may find a deal if you wait, you run the risk of your flight being sold out (especially during the holiday season).
  • Give Yourself Time to Connect. If you are connecting through a major US Airport (Denver, Chicago, Minneapolis), leave yourself at least a 2 hour transfer window (you have to claim your baggage, go through customs, re-check your baggage, go through security, and locate the correct gate). Give yourself at least 1 hour for domestic connections.

  • Avoid Peak Periods. Generally, weekday travel is more affordable than weekend travel. If your schedule is flexible and you want to save money, consider flying on less popular days. Also, typically the days directly leading up to key holidays are more expensive.
  • Compare Prices. Prices will fluctuate on flights from website to website. Use the QuickTrip tool to compare fares and find the most competitive one.
